Still no photos to post or really much interesting to post bird wise but personally today was an interesting day. This morning I checked out of my airport hotel and moved into a hostel nearby Sydney University. It is much more lively and actually has stuff to do around it which is nice. I also have rented a car for the week so that I am a bit more mobile and not as trapped like I was orginally feeling.
This afternoon I was sitting in my new room and feeling pretty bad. I am here to experience Australia and photograph birds and here I am in a downtown Sydney hostel, sitting in my room feeling a bit trapped. I finally decided that the only way for me to get out of the funk I was in was to get up and get out of here. I ended up spending the afternoon and early evening walking clear across Sydney from Newtown, the suburb I am in, all the way down to the Harbour and the Harbour Bridge. I got to sit and watch the sun set behind the bridge with the Opera House directly above me. My original plan was to take the train home but decided to walk back and really enjoyed my time, even if it was just walking along a major city street.
Tomorrow I promise photos. I am going to get up and head to Royal National Park in the morning as another attempt to get myself up and doing something. My target will be Superb Lyrebirds displaying. It is pretty unlikely that I will get photos of that behavior, but I might just get lucky. Hopefully the afternoon will be spent getting a mobile phone squared away, my last task before I feel a bit more organized. I probably will return to the harbour for sunset as I saw a photograph that I must take, plus, if I went home without any Sydney Harbour photographs my family and friends would be quite upset.
