Today was a great day for traveling. The weather was a bit bland, overcast with the occasional light shower but nothing hard. The drive up to Warumbungle National Park was quite nice and I got to stop in several small towns to resupply. I arrived here mid afternoon and got set up in the campground. Kangaroos are everywhere. I have seen them on a couple of occasions, but mostly as they are hopping away from a road or something. In the 20 or so kilometers from town into the park, I bet I saw over 200. We even had one come right up and inside the cooking pavilion this evening. It was really quite amazing. They are strange looking animals and it is going to take me a while to get used to them being around.
This evening I spent several hours standing around the cooking facilities here in the campground talking with some other travellers. It was really great to have a bit of social interaction and the people were an interesting crowd. Other than me, it was two Australian couples, a single Australian man, and a younger French couple who live in Scotland. It was great to swap stories about where we had been or where we were going and just to talk about life and the world we live in. It is opportunities like this that I think are going to be some of the highlights of this trip.
Inever got the camera out today so this image is from yesterday while I waited for the Regent Honeyeaters in the morning.
