Southern Logrunner - Python Rock Track, Green Mountains, Lamington National Park, Queensland

Well, a full 24 hours of charging was exactly what my battery needed. Once I got it back in my car, everything started up perfectly and I was off. Since I couldn't pick up my battery until about 11:00, I had a nice walk this morning where I was able to see another lyrebird as well as photograph another Logrunner, this time getting a shot I was thrilled with (above). I also was able to photograph a little rodent like mammal that I have yet to identify but will work on that in the next few days.

Once I got my car back running and got on the road, I made a few stops on the way down the mountain and into Brisbane. The first stop was Duck Creek Road where Iwas in search of a Spotted Quail-Thrush. While Ididn't see the Quail-Thrush, I did see two new birds, a Red-backed Fairy-wren and a Pacific Baza (a very cool raptor, sorry, no pictures yet). My second spot was at a home where I hoped to see Glossy Black-Cockatoos. Again, I missed my target bird but ended up spending nearly an hour having a cup of tea with the women who lived there and talking about my trip and future travels. Not only did I leave after a very pleasant hour of converstaion and tea but the contact deatils of her son up the coast. Quite a surprise and et another example of the fantastic people who live in this country who go out of their way to be friendly and welcoming to others.

I am now in Brisbane and will be spending the next day or so here getting the last few things I need before heading north to Cape York as well as trying to get my malfunctioning lens fixed. Hopefully, Ican do this all tomorrow and get on my way north but Iam afraid it may take a couple days. We will just have to wait and find out.
