Well, I am still without a car of my own. After visiting a few auctions today we eliminated one car that we had as a possibility and are back to the drawing board. Hopefully next week's auctions will do us better. In the meantime, I have decided to head out of the city starting on Sunday even if I don't have a car of my own. Hopefully, I can do a bit more photographing and a lot less walking around a big city. Don't get me wrong, Sydney is a great city but I have about had my fill of cities and am ready to experience the wilder side of Australia, the parts I couldn't experience anywhere else in the world.
This afternoon I headed over to Centennial Park where I know some other photographers spend some time just to see what was out and about. Iwas able to pick up several new species and photograph a little, though there was very little light. I was able to photograph some more NewHolland Honeyeaters, this time on a flowering bush. The only other endemic I was able to photograph today was a NoisyMiner.
Noisy Miners are in the Honeyeater Family, Meliphagidae, and are abundant throughout the city and suburbs. and I assume elsewhere. Often they are either high up in trees or down on the ground so I was pleased to have some feeding on the nectar in these flowers. As of now, I still don't have a plant identifcation field guide so if anyone out there could please ID these flowers for me, I would be very appreciative.
