I have now been to the very northern tip of the country and taken the obligatory photo by the sign (above). I was the first one out there this morning and spent nearly an hour just sitting and enjoying the scene. I was quite surprised that as I was leaving I passed probably 25 or more people on their way out so my timing was perfect. On my way to another beach on the eastern coast, I stopped and decided to go for a walk in the rainforest. The trail I took was fairly well marked at first but at times just sort of seemed to disappear which made for quite a frustrating walk. By the time I made it back out of the forest I was quite tired and decided just to head back to camp for lunch and see how I felt about the afternoon. Well, once I got back to the campsite I just decided to spend another day relaxing before I make the trek back south tomorrow.
My original plan was to take a couple days to head back south but I have decided to take the bypass roads instead of the OTL and try and get back down to the Musgrave area and spend another couple days looking for the Golden-shouldered Parrot that I missed on the way up. I talked with some folks who saw it last week so I have a new site to check and a person to contact whenI am there. So, back south I go and I am going to give that parrot another shot before I head into Lakefield National Park and then back to Kingfisher Park on Friday.
