Brown-backed Honeyeater - Abattoir Swamp, Julatten, Queensland

This was my last full day at Kingfisher Park and I will be a bit sad to leave. It is a delightful place with an enormous variety of birds, many that are difficult to see elsewhere. The two owners and operators, Keith and Lindsay, are delightful and a wealth of knowledge about birding in Australia, particularly North Queensland. I must say that this small campground lived up to the excellent repuation I had heard and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting northern Queensland.

Tomorrow I am headed south just about an hour to the Atherton Tableland, an area that was once covered in dense rainforest but now is mostly agricultural land. However, there are a number of sections of rainforest that are now protected and hold a large amount of bird life as well as a number of rare animals including tree-kangaroos. It should be a good couple days as Ipick up the last few endemic species to this area of the country.
