Another day and another morning at Barren Grounds for me. This time I got decent looks at the bristlebird as well as the Southern Emu-wren and managed to get a single frame of the emu-wren that is acceptable but not great. Considering I didn't have anything on this rather shy birdo before today, I can't complain. By loate morning the day was starting to heat up and a dry, hot wind was blowing. This combination meant a total fire ban which also bans the use of gas stoves which means I can't cook. I headed into town oooooooooooto spend midday running some errands and stuff like that as weol as finding a big hot meal so I didn't have to cook in the evening.
Tomorrow, Iam back on the road and headed to Canberra, the national capital as well as a good but often overlooked spot for some good birds. From there I will be headed down into the Riverina area of Southern New South Wales and Northern Victoria and then west to the Mallee habitat before heading down to Melbourne just before the holidays. It should be an interesting couple weeks and I hope they will be productive.
