Today started at about 3:30 this morning as I got on the road to head into Sydney to meet Nevil Lazarus to spend the day birding around Sydney. We had several target birds in mind and it turned out to be qutte a successful morning as we found nearly everything we set out to look for and got to photograph a few new birds as well. The morning started at Warriewood Wetlands where we searched and finally got somewhat brief glimpses of a Little Bittern. We also found Tawny Grassbirds and White-throated Gerygones, both new to my list, and I was able to photograph the gerygones.
From there we headed up into Kur-ing-ai Chase National Park where we hoped to find and photograph both Chestnut-rumped Heathwren and Glossy Black-Cockatoos. We found the heathwren but we were never able to get it to cooperate for our cameras. Once again, I struck out on the Glossy Blacks completely. The day was heating up and we were both tired from our early morning so we headed back to Nevil's for a nice relaxing afternoon and evening with plans to head out once again tomorrow morning.
