Wedge-tailed Shearwater - Pacific Ocean off Wollongong, New South Wales

Today was one of those days when the best thing that one can possibly do is stay in bed, drink a hot drink, and read. It was cold, overcast, and just generally damp. Despite this, Iheaded up to Barren Grounds to see if I could improve on yesterday's image. I was accompanied by some people I had met back at Gloucester Tops owho were all searching for the bristlebird. We found a number of birds singing but it took all of our effort and the better porotion of an hour to actually get our eyes on a bird. After getting the bird for them, we promptly headed back to the campsite to a warm breakfast and then I crawled in to bed to read and nap, a much more productive way to spend the day.

In the afternoon, I headed back up to Barren Grounds but found that it now was not only cold and overcast but the wind had picked up which pretty much meant it was a bit hopeless. After a short walk down the trail I headed back to camp and spent the rest of the evening planning the upcoming weeks.
