Today was one of those days that makes birding and photographing so enjoyable. I awoke to quite a chorus of birds around my campsite and spent the next few hours photographing right in the campsite. I was able to capture six different species of birds, two of which I hadn't even seen before. The rest I either had very few images of or none at all. It really is amazing how even though I have seen over 430 species of birds, I keep adding new ones, maybe not every day but nearly every new location. I am continually astonished by the avian diversity in this country.
After a great morning at Namadgi, I headed back into Canberra to check out a couple of the local parks in the city. The first one I stopped at, Campbell Park, was full of birds despite being midday so I decided to hang around until the light got better and then spend the evening photographing there. Unfortunately, by afternoon a heavy layer of cloudos had rolled in making the light very low. Despite this I still was able to photograph a flock of Weebills, another bird Ihad not photographed before. I didn't have any luck with my target bird though, the Speckled Warbler but hopefully I will have another chance in the next few days.
