After spending several hour searching for the button-quail again this morning, Igave up and decided to move on down the coast. The morning had been rainy and it didn't appear to be letting up anytime soon. After a cup of coffee and late breakfast inRainbow Beach, Icalled a photographer who I had been in contact with on the Sunshine Coast. Wayne Ellis kindly invited me to his house for the next few days and offered to show me around the Sunshine Coast and see if he could put me on a few birds I had been unable to see or photograph yet. So off I went to Mapleton.
It was midafternoon by the time I arrived at Wayne's and the rain had picked up, plus fog was rolling through the mountains. Wayne invited me in and before long we had my camera set up in an open window photographing birds that were coming in to his feeders in the yard. Talk about a luxury. I was able to photograph two new birds, one of whichIhadn't even seen before, while sitting indoors in comfort. Eventually the fog rolled in making photography impossible, so Wayne and I spent quite a nice evening talking about photography, birds, and life in general.
