I didn't have much of a plan today, except I was going to try and find another site or two around the Newcaslte area. My first stop was at Hexham Swamp where a trio of Painted Snipe had been seen for the past few weeks. There I ran into Edwin and Graham, two birders who promptly invited me to tag along for the rest of the day. Considering, I barely knew where I was going, I gratefully accepted and off we went to explore the various swamps of the greater Newcastle region. While we never did find the Painted Snipe and had to work hard to find many other birds, I did manage to pick up a few new birds and had quite an enjoyable day with two local birders. |
