This morning I set back up at the dam, hoping to have another chance at the Turquoise Parrots. Once again, they came in very early when there was very little light, but Iwas still able to get a few shots with flash. After about an hour of sitting there, I noticed the birds were especially skittish this morning so I decided to leave and let them get a good drink since it was supposed to be a very hot day.
After leaving Binya, Iheaded west towards the Mallee region. However, before I arried at the true mallee, I was planning to stop at Mungo National Park in southwest New South Wales. The park isn't recognized for its birdlife as much as the wealth of archaelogical records. When I arrived, Iknew I wanted to photograph the dunes that form the edge of the ancient, dry lakebed so I quickly drove the scenic loop trying to find a spot to photograph from. Iskipped all the informational signs in my race against the dying light soI will go back again tomorrow. Eventually, I ended up back where I started and got a single frame before the sun dropped below a cloud bank. It may only be a single frame butI am quite happy with it and will probably post it tomorrow.
