My goal for this morning was to try for the Pilotbirds again. Now that I knew where the pair could be seen, Iarrived with camera, lens, tripod, flash, and a chair to set up and see if I could get a better chance. I spent over two hours watching these birds and managed to get a few photos off and on but finally, towards the end of my session, the birds became more cooperative and I got some images I was very happy with. I feel like I am slowly getting back into the swing of things as I added another endemic bird to the list of species I have photographed.
Since I had gotten my target bird here, I decided to move on to see what else I could pick up. My original plan had me headed to Kinglake National Park to see what I could find there but when I arrived, the campground was closed. Not a big deal, but it seems like this sort of thing has happened a lot in the last few days. Without too much trouble, I did find another campsite so it wasn't a big deal, just frustrating when things don't go as planned.
I didn't know a lot about Kinglake but had read a few reports about the area so figured I would give it a shot. However, this afternoon was a bit overcast so I took the it off and just relaxed, getting ready for tomorrow morning.
