This morning I wandered around a bit trying to get a better feel of the area. Photographing at the blind is difficult in the morning because it faces east and the birds are heavily backlit. This can make for some interesting images, but for the most part I try and avoid backlighting. It turned out to be a nice morning to see some birds, but I ended up without any photos to show for it. I settled down to wait out another very hot day and to my surprise, a Lewin's Rail walked by a bush where I was sitting and reading at about 11:45. Of course my camera was in the bush hut but it was great to see a bird I had all but written off as a bird I had missed.
Heavy thunderstorms were building most of the afternoon, so I started my evening photography session earlier than usual and it turned out to be a good idea. The parrots were very active and I got several images I was very pleased with before it started to rain. I spent the rest of the evening in the comfort of the blind, just enjoying watching these beautiful birds.
