This morning I decided to take a bit of a break and sleep in though I didn't manage to sleep too late since my internal clock has me used to getting up early. I still managed to have a relaxing morning before I got on the road and headed up to Port Gawler just north of Adelaide. The area between Port Gawler and Port Prime has large areas of samphire flats that are found just inland of the mangroves that line the coast. These flats are home to Elegant Parrots and Slender-billed Thornbills among other birds. I had seen a different subspecies of Slender-billed Thornbill than the one found here and I didn't have any photos so Iplanned to photograph them either tonight or in the morning.
I spent most of the evening searching these flats for the parrots and the thornbills and came up empty. I think part of that had to do with it being a beautiful Saturday afternoon and a lot of motorbikes out and about causing a racket. I decided to call it a night and try again at dawn tomorrow and try and beat the bikers.
