Success! Ihad a wonderful morning photographing Western Whipbirds as they foraged and sang in the vicinity of the entrance kiosk to Fitzgerald River National Park. Not only did Imanage some superb views of several birds as they sang from the tops of bushes, but I even managed to get two birds on film. It doesn't get much better than that. Sure, I could nitpick and say I would rather there not be a branch in front of his tail but that would be a bit nitpicky. I am thrilled to have images of this bird as I didn't think there was much of a chance.
As the morning progressed and the light became a bit harsh, I decided to move on and head to my next stop. Cheyne Beach and nearby Watchinicup National Park are home to the other two "skulkers" and these will be my targets for the next three or four days. I arrived this afternoon and set up camp and then went for a bit of a drive to do some exploring. Didn't see much but at least got an idea of where the sites for the Bristlebird and Scrub-bird are for tomorrow morning.
