White-cheeked Honeyeater - Cheyne Beach, Waychinicup National Park, Western Australia

I must admit, it is really strange to not have a camera. There have been many days when I have not touched the camea, but that was always my choice. I either was taking a break or traveling or didn't see anything worth getting the camera out. It has been a long time since I have been without a functional camera and to be quite frank, I don't like it. It sort of sucked the energy out of me today and I really didn't want to do anything. I think the hardest part is the waiting to find out what is going to happen. I have to wait until business hours in the States before I can even figure out my next step. Oh well, I will just have to enjoy the area without a camera in hand. I mean, come on, I did get a life bird today. Why am I complaining?

Finally, I forced myself to make a decision and headed back east a bit and down to the coast to D'Entrecasteaux National Park. After a nice sandy drive in, I arrived on an absolutely gorgeous coastline. I ran into a man and his daughter at the car park and the told me a little bit about the area which was quite nice as I knew absolutely nothing about it. After finding a campsite, I went for a walk along the rocks with my 4x5 camera and took an image or two of the coastline. Most of the afternoon was spent just sitting and watching the waves break on the rocks. There is something quite calming about just sitting and watching the ocean. As it got on towards sunset, a pod of dolphins started playing in the waves, surfing them in and jumping over them. It was quite entertaining to watch. The dolphins kept me distracted enough that I almost didn't notice the storm approaching behind me. Fortunately, Idid notice it and was able to pack up and get back to camp just before the rain started. So far it isn't raining too terribly hard but there is a decent amount of lightning and thunder which is always fun to watch.
