This morning I started off photographing the beehive domes just as first rays of sunlight began to hit them. It was a beautiful clear morning and if the images come out like Iplanned, Iwill be quite happy with them. Afterwards, Idid something I haven't done much this year, I splurged on myself. At 9:00, I boarded a helicopter and did a half hour aerial tour of the Bungle Bungle Range and it was well worth the cost. While the beehives and other formations are impressive from the ground, you get to see them on a different scale from there air. Aerial photography is always a bit tricky and I am not very experienced with it but I did manage to come away with a few images I was pleased with. I think the above image is my favorite. I seem to find myself trying to abstract things and look at patterns from the air for some reason.
The flight was the last thing I did in Purnululu National Park and after I got back on the ground I headed back north to Kununurra. By late afternoon I got into town and got some fuel before heading out to a bush camp on Parry Creek Road. The camp was a bit farther than I initially realized but it ended up being a beautiful spot on the Ord River. At dusk a pair of Barking Owls were serenading each other across the river and a couple of crocodiles were sunning themselves on a sandbar. We will see what happens tomorrow.
