After Icouldn't find any finches in the Kununurra area, Ihad just about given up on seeing a Yellow-rumped Mannikin. In fact, Ihad almost written them off as a bird I had missed. Fortunately, Igave them one last good search today in the Timber Creek area and I found them in a few different places, including a flock of more than twenty! As you can see, I even was able to photograph a small flock as they were feeding in the grasses along the airstrip. It was just one of those days when things went right. I hadn't even planned to spend much time in this area but since part of Keep River National Park was closed, I moved on early and had a free day. So here Iam, another new bird and another endemic species photographed. |
