I left Ormiston Gorge this morning and once again stopped to look for the emuwren and Spinifexbird on my way out but once again, came up empty. From there Iheaded across the stree to Glen Helen Gorge and Resort. The gorge itself was quite beautiful and totally flooded. There was a group that appeared to be headed down to swim but it was way too cold, both the air and water, for my tastes.
After leaving Glen Helen, I headed to Redbank Gorge. Redbank is not far past Glen Helen but the road becomes gravel and I was amazed at how few people continued on to this gorge. After a couple nights of crowded camping at Ormiston, Iwas quite pleased to find a very spacious and uncrowded campground at Redbank. I spent the evening walking down to the extremely narrow gorge. The best way to experience this gorge is to swim it but once again, way too cold for my tastes. Maybe if I had a wetsuit or it was midsummer, but not now! Anyway, I simply enjoyed the peace and quiet and sat at the pool watching a Willie Wagtail drink from a floating stick in the pool.
