I had a bit of a relaxing morning this morning. There was actually some light this morning so I took advantage of it adn spent some time walking the Yellow Waters boardwalk. Unfortunately, there was a severe lack of subjects in the area. Nevertheless, I enjoyed seeing the sun for a bit. After that I headed into the resort at Cooinda to make some phone calls and have a nice lunch.
From there, I headed south to Gunlom, my last stop in Kakadu. Gunlom is the only reliable spot to see the White-throated Grasswren though reports have stated that it has become more difficult to see in the last few years. I also haven't heard a single positive report from the area this year though the area has only been open for a few weeks. I arrived late afternoon and met a family from South Australia who were also birders and interested in both photogarphy and video. They had been looking for the grasswren all day and hadn't had any luck and the ranger didn't have any encouraging reports either. Despite that, I did a quick scouting trip before sunset and didn't see anything but will be returning in the morning.
