Looking through a flock of over 2,000 sandpipers looking for the single odd bird is quite a tedious process and that is exactly how I spent the morning. It turned out to be productive as I was able to see both Red and Great Knots in breeding and nonbreeding plumage and everything in between. Bar-tailed Godwits in every plumage were also plentiful. I was able to pick out a few other species but I missed the Terek Sandpiper and Broad-billed Sandpipers that were seen by somebody else down the beach. I am going to give it one more try in the morning to see what else I can see before I get back on the road.
This evening Iheaded out to the mangroves to see if I could get some photos of either White-breasted or Mangrove Golden Whistler but the area was silent. I couldn't find a single bird! I gave up and headed into the plains to look for Red-backed Button-Quail. I flushed several Brown Quail but couldn't positively identify any Button-Quail. By that point I was quite exchausted so decided to call it a night and headed home for the evening.
