Slaty-backed Thornbill - Kunoth Well, Tanami Track, Northen Territory

Another cold but beautiful morning greeted me as I continued my seach for a Grey Honeyeater. I continued to search in the mulga around the dam at Kunoth Well but extended my search across the road and a bit farther afield. I still didn't find the bird though. I did manage to find several flocks of thornbills and among them Iwas able to locate at least one Slaty-backed Thornbill. It was a bit difficult to photograph but I ended up with a few images that were worth keeping so it was a productive morning despite the lack of Grey Honeyeaters.

This afternoon I moved camp a bit down the road to a spot where the honeyeaters have been seen in the past. I did a bit of searching this afternoon but once again, came up empty. Lots of thornbills and whitefaces around with a handful of Splendid Fairywrens but still no Grey Honeyeaters. I am going to give it one more try in the morning and then head into Alice Springs for a few days.
