Today's drive wasn't near as rough and muddy as yesterday's but it did involve three creek crossings which were the deepest Ihave ever done. Two of them had water lapping at the hood while the other was close. I got through without any problems and continued on my way. At one small creek I stopped to take a break and discovered a Bar-breasted Honeyeater nest. The bird was still building it so it wasn't quite complete but was cool to see. Seeing this bird means I only have two species of honeyeater left to see and I should see one of them in the next week or so.
Igot into the Mitchell River National Park campground in midafternoon and relaxed. Eventually, Iwent for a walk and ended up spending the evening chatting with some other campers from New South Wales. As always, it is great to be able to spend an evening with friendly and interesting people, especially after spending so much time on my own.
