Wow it's great to be off the road for a while. I feel like all Ihave done is drive for the last while. Fortunately, I will be here for at least the weekend and I think it will be a productive time. I arrived at Broome Bird Observatory about midday and settled in and did some exploring around the area. By late afternoon, I found myself exploring the Crab Creek area looking for waders without any luck. However, I did have fantastic luck with the various mangrove specialties. This Broad-billed Flycatcher was the first to appear and turned out to be the most cooperative photographically. I also saw my first Mangrove Golden Whistler, though it was only a brief look as a male flew by me. White-breasted Whistlers were common as were Dusky Gerygones with the occasional Mangrove Gerygone and Yellow White-eye. Hopefully tomorrow I will have a bit more luck and get some shots of the two whistlers. |
