Green-backed Gerygone - Little Merton Falls, Mitchell River National Park, Western Australia

I awoke this morning to the sun, well I awoke well before the sun was up, but the sky was clear. This meant good light for a morning of photographing. As I headed out to give the Black Grasswren one last chance I was feeling pretty good about things. By the end of the morning Istill hadn't seen the grasswrens again but I had photographed three new birds, the Green-backed Gerygone, Northern Fantail, and Little Woodswallow. I may have been a bit disappointed about not getting better images of the grasswren but I was quite pleased to have photographed these other three birds as well as a few others.

By late morning, I was back at camp and had packed up and got on the road. Today Itravelled with another photographer from Germany and we stopped at each of the deep river crossings to take some photos of each other crossing. The images are still quite impressive even though the water had gone down quite a bit at both of the deep holes and the river. Eventually we made it to Drysdale River Station where we enjoyed showers and a wonderful, and massive, hamburger and beer before continuing on. Tonight I am camped at the Gibb River and tomorrow I will be off again. I think I will be completing the Gibb River Road and arriving in Wyndham but Imay stop at the final river crossing. We will just have to see how the day progresses.
