Today started with the disaster I have been dreading all year, my camera died. It didn't so much die as decided it wanted to go for a swim in the surf and consequently drowned. The only good thing about it is that it was only my landscape lens, my least expensive lens, and not my bird lens. However, it steal means that the camera is dead. As of now, I am not even sure if the camera is salvagable. The lens is definately shot as it is full of sand and saltwater. The camera may or may not be able to repaired. I think the tripod head will be able to be repaired but it at least is functional until then. I just have to keep an eye on it for corrosion and get it serviced to take care of the internal parts as soon as I can. Since it is the weekend, I will have to wait until business hours on Monday in the US in order to talk with the insurance adjuster and learn what my next step is. Until then, I will be doing landscape work with my 4"x5". I still will keep up the weblog but will be digging into the archives until I get this issue solved. Oh well, hopefully I will know more in the next few days. |
