Mini Palm Gorge - Purnululu National Park, Western Australia

Today was all about landscape photography and seeing this amazing park. I started off at the Piccaninny Creek area at sunrise. From there Ispent the majority of the morning in Cathedral Gorge as well as along other trails in the area. Cathedral Gorge was quite spectacular as it opens into a massive ampitheatre at the end with a large pool. It is very difficult to photograph because the scale of it all gets lost when using a wide-angle lens.

By midday, Ihad made my way back to the northern end of the park and headed into Mini Palm Gorge. Once again, this gorge opens into an ampitheatre, though nowhere near as large as Cathedral's, but here the ground is strewn with small palm trees. In reality, there weren't many palms, nothing like many of the postcards but it was still impressive. I think my favorite image of the day is the one I have included above. Something about the orange rock and the tree really did it for me. Most of the day I was photographing with my large format camera so once again I will have to wait until August to see those images.
