This morning I finally awoke to a beautiful clear sky and the beginnings of a beautiful sunrise. Iquickly paced up and headed into the gorge to photograph the Freshwater Crocodiles as they sunned themselves in the warm morning sun. After an hour or so of photographing in an otherwise empty gorge, I got on the road and headed out. For the next 7 hours or so I slowly made my way along through the extremely muddy and cut up road. If it hadnt' been wet, the road would have been in great condition having only been graded a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, it was wet and badly cut up. I covered a couple hundred kilometers in about 7 hours of driving and finally stopped at Drysdale River Station. I had planned to be at Bell Gorge tonight but it, and all the other side trips, were closed. Tomorrow I have another long drive up to Mitchell Falls but the roads appear to be much drier here and I passed a grader at work this afternoon. Hopefully Iwill get there without too much trouble. |
