This morning was another overcast morning but I headed out to do some birding. It proved to a be a great morning as I picked up two new species, a pair of White-lined Honeyeaters and a Banded Fruit-Dove. It took about a half hour to see the birds but it was quite amazing as they both appeared within 30 seconds of each other and were gone again in a couple minutes. Other than that I got to photograph the art sites at Nourlangie Rock.
I spent midday catching up with Marc Gardener, a local birder and photographer, who lives in Jabiru. We had a nice chat and made tentative plans to get out on one of the rivers this weekend which should be a lot of fun.
In the afternoon I dropped in to Anbangbang Billabong and while there wasn't a whole lot of activity on the actual billabong, the surrounding woods had a lot of life. The most cooperative bird of the day was a White-throated Honeyeater which I was quite pleased to photograph. Istopped back in at Nourlangie Rock in the evening but the sun had dropped too low to do much photographing. Hopefully I can do better in the morning.
