Gums - King's Canyon National Park, Northern Territory

Today I made my way to the spectaculary scenic King's Canyon. Like Palm Valley, King's Canyon is an oasis for life in a landscape with very little grenery. However, King's Canyon lacks the famous palms of Palm Valley and to me, it was lusher yet less tropical feeling. This evening I did the two gorge walks up into the main canyon and another side canyon a bit down the range. Both canyon's were alive with birds since a grevilia is blooming and honeyeaters were flocking to the numerous flowers. There were also a fair amount of people on both hikes but I was fortunate enough to be able to enjoy a bit of solitude at the end of each hike and really take in the contrast of the rocky slopes and the lush canyon bottoms. Tomorrow Iwill be further exploring these areas as I do the canyon rim walk which is supposed to be the highlight of the park.
