This morning I was at it again, driving around the reserve trying to find a flock of miners. The morning proved once again to be fairly unproductive. Since I was planning on leaving this morning, I was getting very worried. I was returning to the homestead and was about a kilometer away from the point where I was giving up whenI decided to stop the car and have a listen. While I couldn't hear anything, I did see a flock of larger birds way off in the distance that turned out to be miners! After a brisk walk through the bush to catch up to them I was able to get good looks at several birds and determine that at least one of them was a Black-eared Miner and not a hybrid. A photo was out of hte question as I had a hard time getting a decent enough view to identify them but I was thrilled to see these rare birds.
I headed back to camp and packed up and hit the road. I didn't have much of a schedule but I decided to give the Scarlet-chested Parrots another shot before I started working back towards Adelaide. I headed off to see if I could find them but unfortunately, didn't have any luck this evening. Iwill give them a try in the morning and maybe meet up with local, Peter Waanders, on Tuesday if I can't find them tomorrow.
