This morning I woke to an amazing chorus of birds around the picnic area at Liffey Falls. I had picked the spot for no particular reason except that it had looked good on the map, arrived after dark, and only planned to photograph the waterfall this morning. Yet when I awoke, there were birds everywhere. I spent the next few hours photographing several of the Tasmanian endemics including Dusky Robins, Tasmanian Thornbills, and the probably the most difficult one to see, the Scrubtit. The birds were everywhere and quite cooperative which is always an added bonus. I could barely believe it. It is mornings like that that keep me going becuase you never know what to expect.
When things started to slow down a bit and Ihad photographed the falls, Iheaded south towards Hobart. I am headed back to Hobart a bit earlier than I had orginally planned but this will give me a chance to spend a few days in the southwest hopefully photographing the endangered Orange-bellied Parrot. I will be booking things tomorrow and will provide more information then.
