The sporadic rain and near constant cloud cover continues but at least today I got to get the camera out a bit. One of my target birds while I am here at Terrick Terrick National Park is a Gilbert's Whistler. While I saw one back in August at Round Hill Nature Reserve in western New South Wales, I didn't have an opportunity to photograph it. I had read several reports of them at the picnic area and campground at Terrick Terrick soI had hoped to get a chance while I was here. Sure enough, several pairs could be heard calling from my campsite and today I was able to spend about an hour following a pair around. They are difficult birds to photograph as they seem to favor trees with lots of sticks that tend to get in the way for a photograph. I managed to get three images I was pleased with, this male and two images of the female. |
