For the first time in a while it didn't rain! That means I actually got to do a bit of photographing today. I started out this morning under a light overcast that was slowly clearing. I had hoped to photograph the contrast of the new green growth and the charred trunks of the trees from last years bushfire but the wind still made things difficult. By late morning I had given up and returned to camp to get some work done and relax as I didn't sleep well last night. To my surprise, the weather cleared and turned into a beautiful day.
I spent the early evening photographing the above falls. My girlfriend and I had visited them briefly on our way back to Melbourne and I decided I would return when the light was better. Because of the position of the falls, they really can only be photographed easily in the afternoon, but you also have to be careful not to be too late if the sun drops behind the ridge to the west. Fortunately, I arrived just in time to get set up and wait just a few minutes for a shadow to move out of the way. It was great to sit in the sun and photograph. Hopefully I can do well tomorrow morning as well before I get on the road again and head to the coast.
