I decided to do something a bit out of my ordinary routine today and after a lazy morning sleeping in, I headed to the Australian National War Memorial. This was a bit of a spur of the moment decision as it was recommended to me by a man living at the caravan park I was camped at. I spent several hours wandering through this quite impressive museum and memorial. I did not have a real good knowledge of Australian military history and learned a ton during my visit. I believe you could easily spend several full days here and still not see everything. I am quite glad I decided to spend the day there.
Afterwards, I headed over to the National Botanical Gardens where I was told that Gang Gang Cockatoos were reliably seen. Sure enough, I spotted afew but it wasn't until I was headed back to the car to beat the locking of the gate that I found one that was in a position to be photographed. Several birds were feeding in this tree and I was very pleased to get a few images of this bird. After the gardens closed, I hit the road and headed west towards Griffith, New South Wales.
