After a heavy rain last night, it was a bit cooler this morning. I decided to spend some time with the parrots this morning and try to create some interesting images of the birds backlit. It was late in the morning before the birds were out of the shade of a nearby tree, but a juvenile bird was very cooperative. I found that the images I took this morning have a bit of a different feel to them and I hope that others like them as well as Ido.
When evening rolled around, I sat down for my last afternoon session with the parrots. Ihad a special goal tonight, to photograph the Beautiful Firetails that were coming in to feed. These small finches typically were feeding on the ground but occasionally landed on the perches and vegetation in the area very briefly before moving down to feed. This meant Iwould have to be very quick and lucky. As the evening wore on Iwasn't having any luck with the firetails, but just a few minutes before the sun dropped below the mountains, a pair of birds showed up and one posed beautifully for me and I was able to get a few frames off. Thrilled with having photographed the two birds I had come to photograph, I retired for the evening.
