Malee Ringneck - Currawinya National Park, Queensland

Today was just one of those blah days which was a bit disapointing because today was my birthday. Mostly, Ijust didn't feel very well with another migraine that I just couldn't get to go away. Eventually I gave up sleeping since it wasn't helping much and went into town to get on with life. Ended up spending a nice couple hours at the Hungerford town pub where I met several of the locals and had a nice lunch (with a complimentery peice of cake when they found out it was my birthday).

Since I was feeling a bit better, I decided to head back into the park and spend the afternoon seeing the two huge lakes that normally hold a large amount of waterfowl and other waterbirds. However, since this area is in the middle of a 7 year drought, both lakes were bone dry. According to the ranger, it was only the third time since the arrival of Europeans that this had happened. While I imagine they are pretty spectacular when full, they weren't that impressive dry though you did get an idea of how large they were. After a simple dinner I headed to bed to see if I would feel better tomor4row.
