Today was a bit of a low-key day. We had a bit of rain in the night and it was alternating between overcast and partly cloudy most of the day. I spent the morning trying to photograph a few honeyeaters at a flowering Eucalypt right next to my campsite and then spent some time photographing Macleay's Honeyeaters near the feeders here at the park. Got a few shots (one above) but conditions were tough as it was in deep shade for most of the morning.
During midday I headed down to town to buy food and other supplies for my trip up Cape York. After returning to the campsite I then proceeded to spend most of the afternoon organizing my car and preparing it for some rough roads. Iwill be leaving here bright and early tomorrow to head north up the Cape York peninsula for my first remote, offroad experience in Australia. The next few nights will be spent on a station looking for the endemic and endangered Golden-shouldered Parrot, though my chances are fairly slim. After that Iwill be headed further north to Iron Ranges National Park for nearly a week before continuing up to the very tip of the Australian continent. It should be a fanastic two week trip and whenI return I promise a complete update to the site with new photos and hopefully a Travel Log entry or two.
