Well today was a bit of a disaster. It all started last night about 9 when I got in bed. Igot my tent all set up and crawled into bed and within an hour or so it started raining. Not just a little bit of rain but torrential rain and strong gusts of wind. At one point about 1:00 am I had to get up and go outside to restake down the tent because the stakes had pulled out in the wind and the tent was airborne except for where my body was. The rain lasted basically all night and through until this morning and the wind continued until late this afternoon.
So, I spent a good portion of the morning drying things out, setting up my tent again with some better staking, and pretty much trying to recover. Afterwards I headed into Sydney to see what can be down about my tripod. They weren't sure if they could fix it but I left it with them and am now waiting for their call. Regardless, I think Ihave come up with an idea on how to make it somewhat functional until the parts come in if that is what is needed.
This afternoon I photographed around the campground trying to keep things simple. Luckily we had a number of endemics, including two species of duck, hanging around in a little pond and lots of puddles. After reorganizing my car and everything else I feel like Iam a bit back on top of things and now that the weather has cleared and the wind dropped, Ihave high hopes for tomorrow.
