Yesterday, I said that if I was camping next to a waterfall, I would have made it. As you can see by the above photo, I made it! After all my worrying, it was really not a big deal and just required a lot of careful, slow driving. Sure, the roads were by far the roughest I have ever been on and I had never crossed any creek more than ankle deep before, but I did it. It wasn't the most relaxing drive in the world but there was something deeply satisfying knowing that I could do it and that, probably even more importantly, I was doing it.
So, here Iam, camped at Elliot and Twin Falls with only about 5 km left to go on the old Overland Telegraph Line track before I get off onto the Northern Bypass Road in order to cross the Jardine River by Ferry. From there it is only something like 70km to the northern tip of the continent. Kind of hard to believe that I am here, and only 8 weeks into my year here. I won't go into all the details of the trip here as I will be posting a full essay in the Travel Log section upon my return with photos to help illustrate. You will just have to read it all there!
And tomorrow, on to The Tip!
