Ant Mounds - Heathlands Reserve, Cape York Peninsula, Queensland

After a full day of driving, I pulled off the side of the road near a gate just south of Musgrave and within about 30 minutes spotted not one, but three Golden-shouldered Parrots! Finally, the bird no longer evades me and conveniently, and a bit poetically, it was my 300th species for the year. Tomorrow I am going to see if I can photograph the birds since I have an idea where they hang out now. Other than that I don't have much to report. I left The Tip early this morning and drove down the bypass roads which wasn't near as scenic although heavily corrugated but surprisingly faster than the OTL track. That got me back down to Musgrave and Artemis station just in time to search for the parrots. Hopefully there will be more to report tomorrow.
